The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Rook was the first storage project accepted into the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and it helps storage administrators to automate everyday tasks like provisioning, configuration, disaster recovery, deployment, and upgrading storage providers. Rook turns a distributed file system into storage services that scale and heal automatically by leveraging the Kubernetes features with the operator pattern. When administrators use Rook with a storage provider like Ceph, they only have to worry about declaring the desired state of the cluster and the operator will be responsible for setting up and configuring the storage layer in the cluster.
Respective leaders in DevOps and cloud computing are partnering to provide end-to-end application development automation from source to production, enabling enterprises to build and modernize applications in a hybrid environment
DEVOPS WORLD | JENKINS WORLD, SAN FRANCISCO – AUGUST 14, 2019 – CloudBees®, the enterprise DevOps leader powering the continuous economy, and Google Cloud, today announced that the two companies are collaborating to deliver a modern DevOps platform based on open source technologies powered by Google Cloud’s Anthos.
CloudBees provides companies large and small with Jenkins-based continuous delivery solutions that are secure, open toolchain-enabled and scalable to transform software delivery processes across hybrid computing environments.
SAN FRANCISCO, August 14, 2019 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, announced today that enrollment is now open for the new DevOps and SRE Fundamentals – Implementing Continuous Delivery eLearning course. The course will help an organization be more agile, deliver features rapidly, while at the same time being able to achieve non-functional requirements such as availability, reliability, scalability, security, etc.
According to Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, “The rise of cloud native computing and site reliability engineering are changing the way applications are built, tested, and deployed. The past few years have seen a shift towards having Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) on staff instead of just plain old sysadmins; building familiarity with SRE principles and continuous delivery open source projects are an excellent career investment.”

DevOps Institute to help upskill attendees by offering DevOps Leader and DevSecOps Engineering certification courses and a panel session on the future IT workforce
BOCA RATON, Fla. – July 16, 2019 – DevOps Institute (https://devopsinstitute.com/), a global member-based association for advancing the human elements of DevOps, today announced its unique role as the Continuous Learning Track Sponsor of DevOps World | Jenkins World 2019 from August 12-15 in San Francisco. The DevOps Institute will host several learning and upskilling opportunities to attendees, including two certification courses led by Helen Beal and Sean Davis, and a panel discussion led by Jayne Groll, CEO of DevOps Institute. Datical, the leading provider of database release automation solutions, today announced its enterprise-class platform now supports the Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Postgres families of cloud and on-premises databases, including Amazon RDS for Oracle, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL. This enables enterprises to build greenfield cloud-native applications in AWS and PostgreSQL to move on-premises legacy applications to the cloud.
Moving to the cloud makes it easier to provision and manage the lifecycle of database instances. However, this leads to a vast increase in the number of database instances under management. Database automation that’s built to work with the other tools in the DevOps and cloud application development toolchain is absolutely critical to maintain the consistency and security of datastores. Datical’s solution not only helps enterprises move their database workloads to the cloud, it also solves the new problems and complexities that come with moving applications to the cloud.
Contrast Security, the pioneer in enabling “self-protecting” software by embedding vulnerability analysis and exploit prevention directly into modern software, continues to re-invent application security with the launch of Contrast OSS. Contrast OSS is offered as a solution to help organizations building modern software solve the security, legal and compliance risks associated with their use of open source software (OSS).
According to a recent RedHat report, 99% of IT leaders in surveyed enterprises see adoption of open source software as important for their organization, and a majority of organizations plan to increase their use of open source over the next 12 months. As companies around the world rely more on leveraging open source software, there is also a growing understanding of the risks that come with it. First generation tools used by these organizations to assess open source components struggle to provide effective security analysis and are not keeping up with high-velocity software development. These scan-based tools do not produce the accurate and actionable insight teams need to pinpoint true risks and quickly eliminate those risks early in the development phase. Moreover, legacy tools do not provide protection against attempts to exploit open source vulnerabilities in production applications. This leaves companies exposed to evolving threats, with poor visibility into the real risks introduced by these components.
