Univa, an enterprise-grade workload management and optimization solutions company, has updated its Navops Launch cloud-automation platform. Navops Launch 2.0 helps simplify the migration of enterprise HPC workloads to the cloud, enabling enterprises to transition HPC workloads to the cloud while reducing costs by 30-40 percent.
With features for rightsizing cloud resources and automating hybrid cloud operations, using real-time cloud, application and workload-related metrics, Navops Launch 2.0 is said to give enterprise users full control over cloud-spend.
The latest version features an enhanced WebUI that tracks cloud spending, usage, and resource consumption efficiency for multiple cost-centers, projects, departments, users, applications, and cloud resource types; improved automation features enabling administrators to automate actions based on real-time metrics related to applications, workload, and resources; and the ability to track usage against budgets and utilize automation to stay within hard budget restrictions.
Univa said it has also enhanced its Navops Launch HPC cloud-automation platform to support the Slurm workload scheduler. Slurm (Simple Linux Utility for Resource Management ) is an open-source workload manager supported by SchedMD, known for its pluggable HPC scheduling features.
By using Navops Launch with Slurm, users can easily migrate workloads to the cloud, control spending, rightsize cloud resource selection and automate decisions based on real-time cloud, application, budget and workload-related metrics using composable automation applets.
Univa will be making available Slurm support in Navops Launch in the Fall of 2019 (as part of Navops Launch 2.0). Slurm users will then be able to access the same cloud automation capabilities available to Univa Grid Engine users today.
